The Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards highlighted March’s exceptional athletes in various sports.
The African Games were a stage for these athletes to demonstrate their skills and earn accolades.
In Rugby, Lydia Namabiro shone brightly, playing a crucial role in the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens’ notable fourth-place achievement in the HSBC Challengers Series in Montevideo. Her outstanding effort, which included scoring four tries, was instrumental in her team’s success, earning her the award over competitors Norbert Okeny and Peace Lekuru.
Football’s honor was bestowed upon Hakim Mutebi, who outperformed his Hippos teammate Usama Arafat and Catherine Nagadya of the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women). His remarkable play in Ghana, highlighted by a vital goal in a match against Congo, despite the team not clinching the final against Ghana, distinguished him as the month’s premier footballer.
Weightlifting’s top accolade went to Davis Niyoyita, who brought home three medals from the Games for Uganda. A student from Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli, Niyoyita secured two silver medals and one bronze, showcasing his prowess.
