Potential Rift: Hilderman’s Criticism of Bobi Wine Raises Concerns Amidst Financial Controversy
If any discord arises between Dr. Hilderman and his mentor, Bobi Wine, leading to potential conflict, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Hilderman’s recent criticism directed at the highly regarded National Unity Platform (NUP) figure could have serious repercussions.
The lawmaker firmly believes that Bobi Wine spoke out of ignorance when he criticized Eddy Kenzo for receiving UGX 34 billion on behalf of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF). However, Hilderman, now a politician, takes partial responsibility, asserting that he failed to inform Bobi Wine about the nature of the funds, which were channeled through investment Saccos to benefit musicians.
Hilderman emphasizes that he consistently advocated for government funds to support the music industry. He expresses regret that he couldn’t advise Bobi Wine on this crucial matter, clarifying that the funds are intended for all artists and not just Eddy Kenzo or a specific group. As the Shadow Minister of Arts, he has been urging the government to invest in the industry, stating these points in a recent television interview.
