Emeka Rollas Ejezie, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, took to Instagram to relay the somber news, revealing that Mr. Ibu succumbed to a fatal cardiac arrest. “Mr. Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager of 25 years, Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr. Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace,” mourned Ejezie.
The year prior, in November 2023, Mr. Ibu’s family shared a poignant update, disclosing that the acclaimed actor underwent a leg amputation due to medical exigency. In a heartfelt statement circulated on social media, the family recounted the arduous journey of surgeries preceding the amputation, undertaken in a desperate bid to preserve Mr. Ibu’s life. “This development has been hard on us all but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality,” the family’s statement reflected.
