Yei Council Reopens to Address Security and Governance Challenges

Authorities in Yei River County have reopened the County Legislative Council after a three-year shutdown.

Council chairperson Claudios Milla said the legislature will focus on resolving key challenges such as land conflicts, illegal logging, and disputes caused by herders entering the county with cattle.

Speaking during the ceremony, County Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme said the reopening will allow lawmakers to pass laws that support security and stability in the area.

He noted that gang activity involving local youth remains a concern and urged lawmakers to introduce legislation to address the issue.
