Tensions in West Asia are rising as reports suggest the United States may be preparing for a major military move targeting Kharg Island—a critical hub for Iran’s oil exports.

According to emerging details, up to 4,500 US troops, including Marines and naval forces, have reportedly been deployed to the region. The buildup includes advanced military assets such as F-35 fighter jets, helicopters, and amphibious assault vehicles, signaling the possibility of a large-scale operation.

Kharg Island is not just another strategic location—it is the backbone of Iran’s oil economy. More than 90% of the country’s crude oil exports pass through the island’s terminals, making it a vital economic lifeline.

The move comes as Iran maintains pressure on the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway through which nearly one-fifth of global oil supplies are transported. Any disruption in this corridor has immediate global economic consequences.
